Something New, Something Digital
Something new, something digital, just in time for spring. This one is all done with 1's and 0's. As I create, I recall the lessons of my art and design professors. I am grateful for their gifts.

The Path Of Zen Way
The path of zen way? Why, yes, it is right in front of you, as always.
This image started as a collaborative oil painting done by Dr. Ju and me, and has now gone all digital.

Surreal Gone Abstract
Shown, self portrait with coworkers. Starting with a painting I did some years ago, I have digitally repainted, straddling the border of the surreal and the abstract. Feels like a good place to be.

Recollection Of Yu Garden
Yu Garden, in old Shanghai, as a recollection. Almost exactly as I remembered it, that is, color for color. I wonder if my father passed through there, back in the 1930's.

Rainier On The Horizon
Mount Rainier, from 90 miles away, photo taken out of a car window. Image slightly modified for emotional impact. At once, imposing and massive, inspiring awe, that is, fear and respect.

Fine Line
Sometimes, there is a fine line between what is beautiful and what is ugly, as is the case, in my view, of these cranes peppering the landscape in the Seattle, Washington harbor. The form of the crane is at once graceful, with an animal-like sense of beauty, and imposing on, and disruptive to the formerly pristine land/seascape. Well, there is no going back, at least, for now.

From The Digital Sketchbook
Digital sketch of the day. Just having some fun here, and exploring relationships of color and weight. The result, a visual poem of sorts spoken with fields of color, and not with words.

Made His Mark
For your viewing pleasure, shown, a couple of Rothkos on display at Yale University Art Gallery. Worth the trip to see these works and others in person? Oh yes.

Elements That Satisfy
Variety, repetition, color, style, mystery, they all work together to satisfy mind's quest for beauty. Above, Dr. Ju's calligraphy, traditional brushwork with ink on paper, is transformed into digital art, made possible by the age we live in. This is the latest stepping stone on our collaborative journey.

Another Installment
The feminine form, Chinese calligraphy, and color here, texture there, just might please the beholder.

Going With The Flow
In addition to preparing two canvases for an upcoming collaborative session with Dr. Ju, I had some digital fun with a scan of his calligraphy, see above.

Brush Name
An old charcoal sketch, with my new brush name, Bronfman, this being the old family name cast in modern vernacular. Yes, it feels right.

Passing Glance
On a marathon road trip through the American southwest, I looked out the window to behold earth and sky in a gentle caress.

Yes, It Is Grand
An image from the past year, the Grand Canyon. Just a humbling reminder that there is something greater than us out there.

Upgraded Memory Of A Place
Digitally manipulating a photograph of an architectural detail yields new digital art, on my virtual wall. All this, in a familiar color palette.

Rainy Day Image Number 5
In the words of an old song, "Soon its gonna to rain, I can feel it." I am working on a new painting, and decided to sketch the essence in a digital format, shown above. Why? Just for fun.

Crane Shot Over NYC
A recurring theme in my photographic work, the crane shot. A camera mounted on a crane for the purpose of capturing an image? No, a shot of the crane itself, in this case, looming in the skies over downtown New York.

Memorial
Site of the September 11 Memorial in New York. A fitting, moving tribute, well thought out and designed, and well worth a visit.

Work In Progress
From the "In Progress" folder, a combination oil painting and digital sketch. Not sure what the final work will look like, but for me, this is an exciting stop along the way. When the paint dries, I plan to go back in.

Orange, Goes Well With Black
A collaborative work in progress to be sure, and, digitally manipulated, the original for which the above is based is still predominantly black on white. I couldn't resist adding the orange, for that satisfying hit of saturated color.
Dr. Ju and I have been working together again, and what a creative pleasure. Written in Chinese characters, what does the above mean you ask? All I can tell you is that it is a poem, some such as, "I am home drinking green tea, all is peaceful, and I am reading a poem from one of the ancient masters".
All those who would create mayhem in our world could learn a lot here.

Supra Natural
Above, a photo illustration. Just having fun with a recent photo on a rainy day, transforming the natural into something supra natural, and creating something never seen before.

Blue Blaze
Above, a marker on the Metacomet Trail. I have been away for a while. Creatively, a lot has happened. It is good to be back, back on this path.
